A revitalized the Russian player claimed his first championship for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive victory over opponent Moutet.

This represents his first trophy since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt from March of that year.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and compete aggressively, backed up by an better serving game.

He recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, securing 4 of the final five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first tour victory, gained dominance to push for a third set.

Moutet defended four early-game break points in a close deciding set before the Russian broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, he earned the title with a rally at the net, with his opponent incapable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
